Start A New
Career!
Starting in September 2006 with fourteen students, Dr. Melton
and Charlotte Wiles began teaching the basics of chair-side dental assisting. The class meets on twelve consecutive Saturdays
from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The next class is scheduled to begin soon.
The morning includes class room lecture and testing. After
a short lunch, furnished on the premises, the afternoon hands-on training is
conducted in the clinical area at the dental chair side. Drumright Dental Center
is a new modern 6000 square foot facility constructed with this training course
in mind. The latest equipment is available for the students to learn the
fascinating field of chair side dental assisting.
At the completion of the twelve weeks the students have learned the basics of
dental terminology, four-handed chair side assisting, taking excellent dental
x-rays, study model impressions, as well as learning the areas of oral surgery,
pediatric dentistry and the other areas of day to day dentistry. The students
are also coached on job interviews, telephone etiquette, preparing resumes and
proper appearance and dressing for the job interview.
Melton says they have had students from as far away as 60 miles. Several of the
students have gone ahead with their interest in dentistry and been accepted to
dental hygiene scho ol.
Some of the students are now working in dental offices in Stillwater, Tulsa,
Drumright and Stroud.
Dr. Melton has over 37 years of experience in dentistry and is able to explain
what is expected from the dental assistant by the practicing dentist. Charlotte
Wiles, CDA has almost 30 years of experience as an educator and chair side
assistant. She has actually worked with Dr. Melton at chair side for over 15
years.
The new class, starting soon, is open to anyone 18 years
of age or older. Financing of the tuition is available to those qualifying for
the third party payer.
The course tuition includes all books, uniforms, all lunches served during the
classes, CPR certification and a graduation ceremony for the student after the
successful completion of the course.
